Flying to Mashhad, aboard the infamous Tupolev planes (Russian airplanes that always crash!) Not very comforting to see all the signs in Russian.

Time to go in. The entrance for the men (brothers). Cameras weren't allowed beyond this point, which is a shame because it was amazing on the inside.

Back out, several hours later. I would have been out much sooner, but it was incredibly crowded inside ... and I lost my shoes.

Apparently Mashhad is the saffron capital of Iran. Considering this stuff is worth its weight in gold, that's a lot of $$$.
